Bombardier Defense has secured a new order for its Challenger 650 business jet, this time configured for dedicated medical evacuation purposes. The German automobile association, Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC), placed the order through its subsidiary Aero-Dienst, which manages ADAC's air ambulance operations. The Challenger 650, known for its impressive range, short-field performance, and reliability, makes it a suitable platform for medevac missions.
These critical flights often require rapid response times and the ability to reach remote locations, characteristics that the Challenger 650 excels at. Aero-Dienst plans to convert the Challenger 650 into a flying intensive care unit, capable of transporting up to four patients. The spacious cabin and large diameter will allow medical crews to provide the highest level of care during transport. Additionally, the Challenger 650's smooth ride and exceptional dispatch reliability contribute to a more comfortable and efficient medical evacuation experience for patients.
This order strengthens Bombardier's presence in the growing market for specially configured medevac aircraft. The Challenger 650's versatility and proven performance make it a compelling option for organizations requiring long-range patient transport capabilities.
The delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for 2026, allowing enough time for the necessary modifications to transform the Challenger 650 into a fully functional air ambulance. This acquisition signifies ADAC's commitment to providing its members with the most advanced and reliable medical evacuation services possible.
