Within a span of two days, Lufthansa, the German national airline, has reinstated two significant Airbus A380 international services, much to the delight of its passengers. On October 25, 2023, Lufthansa declared the comeback of the Airbus A380 to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The next day, it verified the resumption of services to Bangkok, Thailand. In both instances, the airline attributed the relaunch to a rise in demand for these routes and an overall surge in passenger numbers.

The inaugural daily Lufthansa A380 flight (LH452) departed from Munich Airport (MUC) at 1 p.m. local time on October 26, 2023, and touched down at LAX shortly after 3 p.m. on the same day. Flight LH453 then departed from LAX around 6 p.m. on October 26, 2023, and is scheduled to land at MUC in the afternoon of October 27, 2023.
The first A380 flight from Munich to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is set to begin on October 28, 2023. Lufthansa has selected Bangkok as the inaugural destination in the Asia Pacific region to welcome its A380 aircraft, with its earliest flight to the country tracing back over 64 years. Anlee Do, General Manager of Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines & the Mekong region for Lufthansa Group, stated: “In response to robust demand, we are expanding capacity between Thailand and Germany and are thrilled to provide Thai passengers with direct service to Munich on board the highly favored A380.
We are the sole airline group operating non-stop A380 flights between Thailand and Europe, underscoring our strong commitment to the Thai market.” The seating configuration on Lufthansa's A380 comprises eight First Class seats, 78 Business Class seats, 52 Premium Economy seats, and 371 Economy seats. In 2022, Lufthansa made the decision to reactivate the Airbus superjumbo. By the close of 2025, a total of eight A380s are expected to be back in operation for flights to and from Munich.
