Turkish Airlines is set to introduce a 13th gateway to the United States, with Detroit joining the growing list. The new service will start on November 15th, 2023, and will operate three times a week with the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Detroit is the largest and most populous city in Michigan, a major hub for the automotive industry, culture, music, and sports.
The airport serves over 36 million passengers in 2019. Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, expressed excitement about opening another gateway in the Midwest region, connecting travelers from neighboring areas through the bustling hub of Detroit.
The Istanbul-Detroit route will offer a comfortable and spacious cabin with 300 seats in two classes: 30 in business class and 270 in economy class. Business class seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, providing direct aisle access and privacy, while economy class seats offer generous legroom and recline. Both classes enjoy access to Turkish Airlines' award-winning inflight entertainment system, Wi-Fi service, and a variety of dishes inspired by Turkish and international cuisines.
The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with a flight time of about 11 hours in both directions. The flights are available for booking on Turkish Airlines' website, mobile app, call center, or authorized travel agents. Turkish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, allowing passengers to earn and redeem miles with any of the alliance's 26 member airlines. The airline also has codeshare agreements with other airlines flying to or from Detroit, such as Delta Air Lines, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Air Canada, JetBlue Airways, Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Southwest Airlines.
