KLM is banning future ticket sales this weekend in an unusual activity in the wake of the escalating crisis at Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport (AMS).
Due to continued airport chaos, KLM has suspended ticket sales from AMS. Those who have lately flown out of AMS have seen large security lineups, with lines spilling into the streets at times.
As a result, KLM has put a hold on further AMS ticket sales until at least Sunday. A KLM spokesperson blamed the airport for its move:
“KLM is putting a brake on ticket sales for flights leaving up until and including Sunday because Schiphol can’t get its security problems fixed.”The airport is experiencing a manpower shortfall, and the union that represents airport security personnel have threatened to strike on June 1, 2022.
Thousands of travelers have missed flights due to congested security queues, causing frustration and disruption.

The temporary suspension to new flight sales is meant to alleviate the backlog of travelers attempting to reach their destinations after missing their first flights. KLM has also issued a ticket waiver, allowing you to reschedule your flight for free if you are planning to fly within the next three days and your plans are flexible:
Travel before 06 June: change fee waived and fare difference waived
Travel after 06 June: change fee waived, fare difference applies
You can also request a travel voucher or if your flight was delayed more than three hours, a refund.
