Singapore Airlines Restores Ninth Daily Flight to Jakarta

Singapore, 15 April - Singapore Airlines has announced the reinstatement of its ninth daily flight between Singapore and Jakarta, restoring the route to its pre-COVID-19 capacity starting 1 May 2025. This development marks a significant milestone for the airline, as the Singapore-Jakarta route reclaims its position as the busiest in its extensive network. The decision reflects growing demand for travel between the two major Southeast Asian hubs and underscores Singapore Airlines’ commitment to strengthening connectivity in the region.

The restoration of the ninth daily flight comes after a period of gradual recovery for the airline. In November 2024, Singapore Airlines increased its Jakarta service to eight daily flights, a move that brought it closer to pre-pandemic levels but still fell short of the full schedule it had maintained from mid-2013 until early 2020. The additional flight, operating as SQ966 from Singapore to Jakarta and SQ967 on the return, will provide travelers with greater flexibility and convenience. This brings the total to 63 weekly flights, offering approximately 14,000 seats each week between Singapore’s Changi Airport and Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The route is serviced by a mix of aircraft, including the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900, ensuring a high level of comfort and reliability for passengers.

The Singapore-Jakarta corridor is a critical link for both business and leisure travelers. Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital and economic powerhouse, is a key destination for corporate travelers, while Singapore serves as a global financial center and a gateway for international connections. The restored schedule caters to the needs of frequent flyers, offering evenly spaced departures throughout the day to accommodate various travel plans. For instance, early morning and late evening flights allow for efficient day trips, while midday options suit those connecting to long-haul destinations via Singapore.

This expansion also enhances opportunities for passengers participating in Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer loyalty program. The Jakarta route frequently features in the airline’s Spontaneous Escapes promotion, which offers discounted award rates for Economy and Business Class redemptions. With the addition of the ninth daily flight, availability for these promotional fares is expected to improve, making it easier for members to redeem miles for travel between the two cities. The airline’s focus on customer-centric services, such as its renowned in-flight dining and entertainment options, further elevates the travel experience on this high-frequency route. Singapore Airlines’ decision to restore the full schedule aligns with broader trends in the aviation industry, where carriers are scaling up operations to meet resurgent demand. The airline has navigated the challenges of the past few years with a cautious yet strategic approach, prioritizing key routes like Jakarta to drive growth. By reinstating the ninth daily flight, Singapore Airlines not only reinforces its dominance on this competitive route but also signals confidence in the sustained recovery of air travel in Southeast Asia. The move is poised to benefit passengers, businesses, and the broader travel ecosystem, fostering stronger ties between Singapore and Indonesia.
