Royal Jordanian Launches Amman to Washington DC Direct Flights

Royal Jordanian Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct service between Amman, Jordan, and Washington, D.C., commencing on March 23, 2025. This development will see the airline deploying its Boeing 787 Dreamliner on this route twice weekly, enhancing connectivity between the Middle East and North America. The flights will operate on Tuesdays and Sundays, aiming to cater to both business and leisure travelers.

The introduction of this route marks a significant expansion for Royal Jordanian, as it becomes the fourth U.S. destination served by the carrier, following its existing services to Chicago, Detroit, and New York. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft chosen for this route will offer passengers a modern travel experience with 270 seats configured in two classes: 24 business class seats and 246 economy class seats. The move comes at a time when Royal Jordanian is looking to broaden its international network and strengthen its position as a key player in connecting the Levant region with global markets. Samer Majali, the airline's President and CEO, stated that this new service not only fortifies the airline's network but also deepens the cultural and economic ties between Jordan and the United States. He highlighted the importance of this route for government, business, and tourism exchanges, emphasizing Royal Jordanian's commitment to providing top-notch service on these transatlantic flights.

This strategic route addition follows the discontinuation of a similar service by United Airlines, which ceased its operations between Washington Dulles and Amman in August 2024 due to geopolitical tensions and demand issues. Royal Jordanian's entry into this market is poised to fill the void left by United, offering a direct link for passengers traveling between these two capitals. The Washington, D.C. route will be facilitated through Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and Washington Dulles International Airport, with flight times set to make the journey as convenient as possible for travelers.

The flight from Amman to Washington will depart at 11:45 AM and arrive at 5:45 PM local time, with the return flight leaving Washington at 8:50 PM and reaching Amman the following day at 3:25 PM. This expansion is part of Royal Jordanian's broader fleet and network growth strategy, which includes plans to introduce more Boeing 787-9 aircraft into its fleet, aiming to double its widebody capacity in the near future.
