Russian authorities are investigating an incident involving a Smartavia Boeing 737-800 aircraft that veered off the runway upon landing. The event took place on October 24, 2023, after the plane had flown from St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport (LED) to Perm Bolshoye Savino Airport (PEE). The Central MSUT of the Investigative Committee verified that there were 186 passengers, including 14 children, on board when the aircraft left the runway.

The investigators confirmed that no injuries were sustained by passengers or crew members, and the aircraft did not incur any damage. Images captured after the incident depict the aircraft resting on a grassy area adjacent to the runway. Weather reports from that day indicate heavy snowfall in the region.
The Central MSUT of the Investigative Committee stated in a Telegram announcement that preliminary findings suggest adverse weather conditions as a potential cause for the incident. The committee is conducting a thorough investigation into this matter and will make a procedural decision based on its findings.
Interestingly, a similar incident occurred on September 23, 2023, when an AnadoluJet plane, a Turkish Airlines subsidiary, also veered off the same runway with 174 passengers on board.
