The Upgrade

Emirates is upgrading its Sydney services to all Airbus A380 flights. The airline currently operates two daily A380 flights with a third daily, EK416/417, flown by a Boeing 777-300ER. The third A380 will replace the 777-300ER from November 4 and add nearly 2,000 extra weekly seats by making it an all-A380 route. Each return flight adds more than 260 additional daily seats in a three-class layout of 489 seats, complementing the two other flights that have the four-class configuration featuring Emirates' latest premium economy cabin.

The Aircraft

The Airbus A380 is known for its superior standards of in-flight comfort, from first class to economy. As the world’s largest and most spacious passenger aircraft, its cabin allows travelers to stretch out in a calm and relaxing environment. It has two full-length decks with widebody dimensions. With more seats than any other aircraft, the A380 offers a solution for traffic growth and airport congestion as we emerge from the pandemic. The A380 features an improved glass cockpit, and fly-by-wire flight controls linked to side-sticks. The improved cockpit displays feature eight 15-by-20 cm (6-by-8-inch) liquid crystal displays, all of which are physically identical and interchangeable⁸. The A380 features a bulbless illumination system. LEDs are employed in the cabin, cockpit, cargo, and other fuselage areas. The cabin lighting features programmable multi-spectral LEDs capable of creating a cabin ambiance simulating daylight, night, or shades in between.
