After a hiatus of four years, Cathay Pacific, the Hong Kong-based airline, has announced the resumption of its service to Chennai. The airline is set to restart its Hong Kong-Chennai flights in February 2024.
The Return of the Service
The airline last operated its Chennai service four years ago and will fly to the South Indian city again from early next year. The resumption of this service is part of Cathay Pacific's growth and recovery phase post-COVID. The airline will operate three non-stop weekly flights from Chennai, commencing on February 2nd, 2024. The flight schedule is as follows:
- Flight CX632: Departure from Chennai at 02:20, Arrival in Hong Kong at 09:55 (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday)
- Flight CX641: Departure from Hong Kong at 21:50, Arrival in Chennai at 01:00 +1 (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday)
The Aircraft
Cathay Pacific will deploy a Boeing 777 aircraft for this flight. The Boeing 777 is known for its superior range, outstanding fuel efficiency, and passenger-preferred comfort. It's the world's largest twinjet and the most-built wide-body airliner. The aircraft is configured in a three-cabin-class layout with 368 seats, comprising 40 in Business class, 32 in Premium Economy, and 296 in Economy. This configuration will cater to the travel needs of corporate and leisure travelers alike.
Looking Ahead
Cathay Pacific hopes that apart from point-to-point travelers, it will also cater to business and leisure travelers seeking connectivity via Hong Kong to other destinations in the Greater Bay Area, the Chinese Mainland, North America, Northeast Asia, and the Southwest Pacific. Anand Yedery, Regional Head of Customer Travel and Lifestyle, South Asia, Middle East, and Africa, commented on the resumption of the service. He said that a Boeing 777 aircraft on this route will not only cater to the travel needs of corporate and leisure travelers but will also provide each segment with a cabin of choice and allow them to travel with enhanced comfort to Hong Kong and beyond. This move by Cathay Pacific marks an important milestone in its post-COVID recovery phase. It's an exciting development for passengers looking forward to experiencing the airline's world-class products and services once again.
