Cathay Pacific Plans To Acquire 32 New Narrow Body Aircraft

Cathay Pacific Airways announced on Thursday that it plans to invest in and upgrade its fleet by purchasing up to 32 Airbus A321neo and A320neo aircraft, which will bring the total number of new aircraft deliveries to over 70.

The airline's CEO, Ronald Lam, stated that these aircraft will have advanced technological features that will provide customers with a quieter, more comfortable, and fuel-efficient travel experience. While Cathay had previously announced that it would be receiving 32 new single-aisle Airbus aircraft by 2029, it did not reveal whether these would be acquired by purchase or lease.

The new aircraft are expected to cover destinations in the Chinese Mainland and other parts of Asia and will be added to Cathay Pacific's fleet by 2029. However, the purchase value of the new orders was not disclosed. Cathay has already received 13 of the 32 A321neos from its 2017 order, and the additional purchase will bring the total number of single-aisle Airbus aircraft in the Group's fleet to 32.
