
An American Eagle Embraer ERJ145 aircraft suffered a pressurization issue during a flight between Charlotte (CLT) and Gainesville (GNV) on August 10, 2023. The flight, AA5916, was operated by Piedmont Airlines and landed safely in GNV.

According to reports, the crew received an indication of a possible pressurization issue while in flight and immediately and safely descended to a lower altitude. The plane descended from 30,000 ft at 20:06 UTC to 10,000 ft at 20:14 UTC according to RadarBox data. Oxygen masks were dropped for the passengers during the descent.
A passenger on the flight, Harrison Hove, took to social media to recount his experience. He praised the calm behavior of both the cabin crew and pilots in the face of the situation and noted that the images shared could not capture the burning smell, loud bang, or discomfort in the ears.

In a statement, an American Airlines spokesperson confirmed the incident and apologized to customers for any inconvenience. They also thanked their team for their professionalism.
