A man expressed his dissatisfaction on social media when a stewardess on board a flight declined a family's request for a seat belt extender for their two-year-old daughter. The family was on MY Airline flight Z97704 from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur.
Fear Dawooz, a passenger on a MY Airline flight, shared a 26-second video showing his two-year-old daughter refusing to sit quietly as her mother struggled to fasten her seatbelt. Fear Dawooz expressed his unhappiness at the stewardess' attitude towards them and asked MY Airline to check back on the staff that was causing the incident.
MY Airline apologised to the passengers involved for going through an unpleasant experience but said that under the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) policy, it is mandatory for a child above the age of 24 months to be seated in their own seat with their seatbelt fastened in any flight.
Netizens advised all parents to be well-prepared when bringing their children to board any flight and to prepare activities such as colouring or reading books, toys, lollipops, or anything that can distract them during take off. Safety SOP should be adhered to and parents must do what they should do.
