After a Singapore Airlines cargo freighter was forced to abort a takeoff due to a bird strike, Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been blocked to both inbound and outgoing traffic.
Following a bird strike, a Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-412F cargo freighter with the registration 9V-SFO aborted takeoff at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The decision to reject the takeoff appears to have been made when the aircraft was far into the takeoff roll. The Boeing 747 allegedly sustained 16 tire blowouts as a result, and it is still on the runway that is still in use. Following the incident, the Kenya Airports Authority temporarily halted all flight operations.
