INCIDENT | Hawaiian Airlines flight makes emergency landing at LAX

A Hawaiian Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on the evening of January 10, 2023.

Flight HA16 was en route to San Diego International Airport (SAN) from Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) when it was forced to divert to LAX, possibly due to hydraulic systems issues.

According to flight tracking site FlightAware, the flight departed HNL at around 12:45 local time and headed for San Diego. The twin-jet Airbus A330 eventually made it to San Diego, but instead of landing, it circled around the airport and headed to LAX where it landed at around 18:30 local time.

An airline spokesperson told media outlet The Honolulu Star Advertiser that the plane diverted due to a possible hydraulic fault. It landed in Los Angeles “without incident,” and Hawaiian Airlines is providing passengers with bus transportation to San Diego.
