Iberia and Viva Aerobus Sign Codeshare Agreement for Enhanced Connectivity Between Mexico and Spain

Iberia and Viva Aerobus have signed a new codeshare agreement to provide more connectivity for passengers traveling between Mexico and Spain.  Customers of both airlines will now be able to seamlessly connect to both networks via Mexico City and Madrid.

On Thursday (August 4, 2022), Viva Aerobus announced the signing of a new codeshare agreement with Iberia, which will provide more convenient options for customers traveling between Mexico and Spain.  Iberia’s customers traveling from Madrid can now seamlessly connect via Mexico City to 25 destinations in Viva Aerobus’ network.  Likewise, Viva Aerobus’ guests traveling to Spain from Mexico City will enjoy seamless onward connectivity via Madrid to destinations in Iberia’s extensive network. I beria currently offers 19 weekly flights between Madrid and Mexico City, and thanks to the new codeshare partnership will enjoy convenient domestic connectivity in Mexico with Viva Aerobus to popular destinations such as Guadalajara, Cancun, Monterrey, Veracruz, Mérida, Tampico, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Tijuana, Hermosillo, Oaxaca, Huatulco, Torreon, Puerto Escondido, Ciudad Juarez, La Paz, Chetumal and Mazatlán.

In Thursday’s announcement, Iberia’s Chief Commercial, Network Development and Alliances, Mª Jesús López Solás, said,

“At Iberia, we have always opted for Mexico as one of our strategic markets, both, from the point of view of tourism and business traffic.  As demand has grown, we have met this recovery with an increase in capacity very close to the pre-pandemic levels.  With 19 flights a week, Mexico City is the city with the highest number of frequencies in the entire American continent.  Now, thanks to the codeshare agreement with Viva Aerobus, we will be able to offer a better service to our customers and greater capillarity with a wide range of destinations within the country.”

Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, Viva Aerobus’ Chief of Alliances, Javier Suárez, added,

“At Viva, we are very excited about this codeshare agreement with Iberia.  This alliance allows us to connect our network of domestic flights from Mexico City with the busiest nonstop route between Mexico and Europe.  We are proud that this operation combines the most modern fleet in Mexico with the efficient Iberia’s Airbus A350 aircraft.”

Iberia customers can now purchase flights to Mexico City and beyond with a single booking, as well as the same baggage policy and uniform fare conditions.  Tickets are now available for booking for flights from August 30, 2022.  Iberia operates their route between Madrid and Mexico City with a state-of-the-art 348-passenger Airbus A350-900.  The aircraft is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi can and is configured with Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins.
