Suggested updates to FAA risk reports based on Boeing 737 MAX crashes

A report of National Academy of Science released on Wednesday, suggested improve airplane risk assessment reports done by US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The report came as an evaluation of two Boeing 737 MAX crashes, which took place on October 29, 2018 (Lion Air Flight 610), and March 10, 2019 (Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302). The two crashes claimed the lives of 346 people and cause the type to be grounded worldwide between March 2019 and December 2020 - longer in many jurisdictions.

The report makes a number of recommendations to the FAA in order to improve its risk assessment report process.

The FAA welcomed the report. "Outside scrutiny is welcome and we're carefully reviewing the report." FAA spokesman said.
