Japan's "NHK" channel reported that the Ministry of Transportation has asked international airlines to stop accepting new bookings for all incoming flights to Japan until the end of December.

The ministry indicated that it submitted this request as an emergency precautionary measure amid increasing concerns about the "Omicron" coronavirus mutant, explaining that individuals who have already booked will not be affected by the suspension.

It is worth noting that this decision comes at a time when Japan confirmed the a second case of the new Covid-19 virus "Omicron", through a traveler from Peru, one day after the first case was recorded yesterday, Tuesday, with a Namibian diplomat.
