British Airways Airbus A380 suffered a bird ingestion on landing at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD).

The incident occurred on November 28, 2021. The aircraft, registered as G-XLEF, was performing flight no. BA462 between London Heathrow (LHR) and MAD.

On approach, a bird was ingested into the inboard left engine (No. 2). The aircraft landed safely at 6.35 PM CET (17:35 GMT).

According to Airlive, the passengers, who were supposed to fly on the same aircraft back to LHR one and a half hours later, were told that their flight is rescheduled for the next day.

As Radarbox data shows, as for early morning November 29, 2021, the aircraft itself remains grounded at Madrid.

The British Airways Airbus A380 registered G-XLEF is the same that suffered a peculiar incident on March 13, 2016. On route from Johannesburg O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) to LHR, a water leak occurred on the upper deck.

The water proceeded to drip to the main deck, soaking passengers there and accumulating on the floor. According to the Aviation Herald, the aircraft landed normally and no serious harm occurred, apart for damage to passengers’ belongings.
