Kyiv, July 7 - Ukraine is actively exploring the acquisition of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to modernize its army aviation and phase out its aging Soviet-era Mi-8 fleet. As the ongoing conflict strains maintenance capabilities, the reliance on Russian-manufactured spare parts for Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters has become unsustainable. Brigadier General Pavlo Bardakov, commander of Ukraine's Army Aviation, highlighted the UH-60 Black Hawk as the preferred platform for future operations due to its proven versatility in combat and transport missions.
The transition to American UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters addresses critical logistical challenges faced by Ukrainian forces.
