Türkiye Advances Indigenous Air Defense with Successful SİPER-1 Battery Acceptance Test

Istanbul, January 5 - Türkiye has achieved a significant milestone in its national defense capabilities with the successful completion of the battery delivery acceptance test for the SİPER-1 long-range air and missile defense system. Conducted at the Sinop Test Center in northern Türkiye, this test marks a critical step in deploying the country's indigenous long-range area air defense system. Developed under the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) integrated air defense concept, SİPER-1 operates in a distributed architecture, enhancing Türkiye's layered protection against aerial threats.

The test was performed under a challenging operational scenario featuring simultaneous maneuvering by friendly and hostile aircraft, simulating realistic combat conditions. This rigorous evaluation validated the system's performance in complex airspace environments. Notably, the firing was executed without relying on the Fleet Control Center or Search Radar, focusing solely on battery-level components and demonstrating the robustness of ASELSAN's core technologies.

With this successful firing, acceptance activities for the SİPER-1 battery elements, including the Fire Control Center, Fire Control Radar, Missile Launching System, and the missile itself, have been fully completed. The test successfully verified ASELSAN's expertise in radar technologies, command and control systems, and fire control mechanisms. It also confirmed the system's long-range interception capabilities and overall operational maturity.
