Dubai, January 13 - Emirates has announced the conclusion of Airbus A380 operations on its Dubai to Copenhagen route, with the final superjumbo flight scheduled for May 31, 2026. The iconic double-decker aircraft, renowned for its spacious cabins and premium experience, first served Copenhagen in December 2015, with a brief suspension during the pandemic before returning in January 2025 in a high-density two-class configuration featuring 615 seats. This strategic decision marks the end of an era for Denmark's only regular A380 service, as the airline shifts focus toward enhanced frequency and connectivity to meet evolving passenger demands on this key Scandinavian gateway.
Starting June 1, 2026, Emirates will double its daily flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Copenhagen Airport (CPH), transitioning from a single high-capacity operation to two daily departures. The existing flight will continue with the reliable Boeing 777-300ER, while a new frequency will introduce the modern Airbus A350-900, bringing premium economy class to the route for the first time. This adjustment prioritizes schedule flexibility, with morning, afternoon, and evening options designed to improve onward connections through Dubai's global hub to popular destinations in Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
The network optimization results in a 17 percent increase in total daily seat capacity, rising to 1,438 seats across the two services. The Boeing 777-300ER accommodates 421 passengers, while the A350-900 seats 298, offering a more balanced mix of capacity and efficiency. This change supports strong connecting traffic from Copenhagen, where over 200,000 Emirates passengers connected onward in the 12 months ending October 2025, with top markets including India, Thailand, Australia, and sought-after leisure pairs such as Copenhagen to Taipei, Bangkok, Bali, and Mauritius.
Copenhagen, celebrated as the most liveable city in the world, blends thoughtful urban design, rich history, exceptional food scenes, clean public spaces, and a renowned cycling culture. Emirates' enhanced service underscores the airline's commitment to this vibrant destination, providing travelers with greater choice and superior connectivity while maintaining high standards of comfort and reliability on one of Europe's most appealing routes.
