Kuala Lumpur, 23 March - Malaysia Airlines has officially resumed direct service to Paris, marking the French capital as its 68th destination in a significant expansion of its global network. The inaugural flight, designated MH22, departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and touched down at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on March 22, 2025, signaling the airline’s return to the City of Lights after a nearly decade-long hiatus. This development strengthens Malaysia Airlines’ presence in Europe and underscores its commitment to enhancing connectivity between Southeast Asia and key international markets.

The resumption of this route comes as part of Malaysia Airlines’ broader strategy to rebound from past challenges and cater to growing travel demand. The airline initially launched the service with four weekly flights, utilizing its modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft, known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. The A350-900 offers a premium travel experience, featuring spacious cabins, advanced in-flight entertainment, and a configuration that includes business and economy class options. Starting March 29, 2025, just a week after the inaugural flight, the airline plans to increase the frequency of daily flights, providing travelers with greater flexibility and convenience. This adjustment reflects Malaysia Airlines’ confidence in the route’s potential to attract both leisure and business passengers.
Paris, a global hub for culture, fashion, and commerce, represents a strategic addition to Malaysia Airlines’ network. The city’s appeal as a top-tier destination aligns with the airline’s aim to serve as a gateway between Asia and beyond. For Malaysian travelers, the direct service eliminates the need for connecting flights, reducing travel time to approximately 14 hours. Meanwhile, European passengers gain easier access to Kuala Lumpur, a bustling metropolis that serves as a launchpad to explore Southeast Asia’s diverse landscapes and vibrant cities. The flight schedule has been thoughtfully designed, with MH22 departing Kuala Lumpur late in the evening and arriving in Paris early the following morning, while the return flight, MH20, leaves Paris mid-morning and lands in Kuala Lumpur the next day.
This route’s revival follows a period of fleet modernization and operational recovery for Malaysia Airlines, bolstered by its parent company, Malaysia Aviation Group. Just days before the Paris launch, the group announced a major order for 30 Boeing 737 MAX jets, set for delivery in 2029, aimed at refreshing its narrow-body fleet. This investment highlights the airline’s long-term vision to strengthen its competitive edge in the aviation industry. The Paris service also builds on recent operational successes, such as the resumption of flights to London Heathrow earlier in March 2025, signaling a robust return to key European markets. Malaysia Airlines first confirmed plans to reinstate the Kuala Lumpur-Paris route in September 2024, with ticket sales opening shortly after at an introductory all-in return fare of RM3,699 (approximately USD 850). The competitive pricing, paired with the allure of Paris and the convenience of direct travel, positions the route as an attractive option for travelers. As the airline continues to expand its footprint, the addition of Paris as its 68th destination marks a milestone in its journey to reclaim its status as a leading global carrier, bridging continents and cultures with every flight.
