Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA) has celebrated a significant milestone by graduating its largest cohort to date in 2024, with 85 new pilots completing their training. This ceremony marks the academy’s fifth graduation since its inception and highlights its pivotal role in addressing the global pilot shortage. Held on December 18, 2024, the event was graced by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, who presented certificates to the graduating cadets.
The graduating class included a diverse group, with 67 UAE Nationals and 18 international students, showcasing EFTA's commitment to fostering aviation talent both locally and globally. This group brings the total number of EFTA graduates to 271, reinforcing the academy's status as a key incubator for future aviators. The ceremony also served as the platform for announcing a new Advanced Diploma in Pilot Licensing Training (Aeroplane), following the academy's accreditation by the UAE National Qualifications Centre (NQC).
Sheikh Ahmed praised the academy for its role in creating a steady pipeline of skilled pilots for the aviation industry, not just in the UAE but worldwide. He emphasized the importance of EFTA in nurturing Dubai's vision of being a sustainable aviation hub and supporting the country's Emiratisation goals. The training at EFTA is comprehensive, involving approximately 1,100 hours of ground-based education and 270 hours of flight training over 113 weeks, preparing cadets for the challenges of the aviation sector.
Four cadets were recognized for exceptional performance among the graduates: Humaid Al Hammadi, Abdulla Raeisi, Alessandro Muffolini, and Sarah Shah. Additionally, Abdulla Alkaabi was awarded for outstanding diligence. This recognition reflects the high standards and rigorous training environment at EFTA, which combines cutting-edge technology, a modern fleet of 32 training aircraft, and state-of-the-art facilities spread over an area equivalent to 200 football fields. The graduation of these 85 pilots is a testament to EFTA's dedication to quality aviation education and its strategic importance in meeting the industry's growing demand for skilled pilots. This event not only celebrates the personal achievements of the cadets but also signifies the collective impact they will have in steering the future of global aviation.
