Flight EK262, operated by an Airbus A380-800 with registration A6-EUL, was accelerating down runway 10L at Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport when the issue arose. Passengers reported a loud bang and streaks of flames coming from the left-hand Rolls-Royce GP7270 engine.
Reacting swiftly and prioritizing safety, the well-trained crew rejected the takeoff at a low speed of around 40 knots. This decisive action ensured the safety of the passengers and crew. The aircraft taxied safely to a designated area via taxiway "Lima" with no further complications.
Unfortunately, the engine issue resulted in the flight's cancellation. The A380 remained grounded in Sao Paulo for necessary repairs until June 17th, when it was finally able to return to Dubai.
