The Boeing 787-9, fresh from the Dreamliner assembly line, left Charleston International Airport (CHS) in South Carolina, United States, on February 14, 2024, just before 5:30 pm local time. After a ten-hour flight, the brand-new jet touched down on the island of Hawaii at around 10:30 pm.

This Dreamliner, registered as N781HA, is the first of its kind to be delivered to Hawaiian Airlines. However, it was not the first to leave the Boeing factory. Another aircraft, N780HA, was placed in storage in San Antonio, Texas, before being flown to Seattle Paine Field International Airport (PAE) in July 2023. Hawaiian Airlines had entered into a purchase agreement for the acquisition of 10 Boeing 787-9s in July 2018. Later, in December 2022, the airline exercised a purchase option for an additional two 787-9 aircraft. The last of the 12 Dreamliners is expected to be delivered to Hawaiian Airlines in 2027.

The new Dreamliner aircraft will debut on April 15, 2024, operating a daily service between Honolulu and San Francisco through to May 14, 2024. This will be followed by select flights between HNL and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from May 14, 2024, and HNL and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) from May 15, 2024. The 787-9 Dreamliner brings a new standard of travel inspired by Hawaii. The fuel-efficient planes travel at a lower cabin altitude pressurization with enhanced filtration and turbulence sensors, resulting in a more comfortable flight. The spacious interior features electronically dimmable windows and extra-large overhead bins. The design details are inspired by Hawaii's natural elements, from the serene sunrise and sunset lighting to the rich textures and patterns in each cabin.

He added that they anticipate an international growth rate that surpasses 10% compared to the previous year. In conclusion, the arrival of the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in Honolulu marks a significant milestone for Hawaiian Airlines. It not only represents the airline's commitment to innovation and growth but also enhances the travel experience for its passengers. With the new Dreamliner, Hawaiian Airlines is set to embark on a new journey, offering a unique and comfortable travel experience inspired by the beauty and spirit of Hawaii.
