KLM Royal Dutch Airline has provided new information about the design of its upcoming Airbus A321neo fleet, which will feature a fresh, previously unseen livery. On February 13, 2024, KLM announced that the new A321neo livery will have a dark line separating the trademark blue and white, with all three colors sweeping down under the belly of the plane as they approach the nose.
This will result in the front of the aircraft being painted entirely in blue, rather than blue and white. The new livery also has a practical purpose in the event of an emergency nose replacement, as a new one can be fitted without disrupting the signature blue markings.
A black outline resembling sunglasses has also been added around the cockpit window. Passengers on KLM's A321neo will enjoy wider seats, larger tray tables, and spacious luggage bins. Each seat has a tablet holder and a USB port, as well as multi-colored mood lighting that adjusts throughout the flight. The wider aisles and easier-to-reach overhead bins will also result in less bumping between passengers and cabin crew members during the flight.
The A321neo interior also features additional blue detailing and special lighting at the entrance to guarantee a warm welcome. "The arrival of the A321neo is a significant improvement of our European fleet. It is 50% quieter and produces 15% fewer carbon emissions than the aircraft it is replacing, making it an essential step towards cleaner, quieter, and more fuel-efficient aviation," stated Marjan Rintel, CEO of KLM. KLM intends to begin operating the first of thirty new A321neos in August 2024.
