Lufthansa Group’s Massive Recruitment Drive: 13,000 New Hires Expected in 2024

The Lufthansa Group, a global aviation conglomerate that operates Lufthansa, Eurowings, and Austrian Airlines, has announced plans to expand its workforce by 13,000 in 2024. This ambitious recruitment drive comes despite the group's already substantial employee base of 95,000 individuals spread across more than 90 countries.

The group is casting a wide net in its search for talent, with four specific roles identified as high-priority. According to a statement released by Lufthansa on January 15, 2024, there is a significant demand for colleagues in the cockpit and cabin, technicians, and IT professionals. These roles are critical to the group's operations and customer service.

Michael Niggemann, a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG responsible for Human Resources and Infrastructure, emphasized the importance of dedicated employees in the aviation industry. He stated, "In an industry like ours, success stands and falls with those who give their best every day to inspire our customers. We therefore continue to focus on attracting new employees and being an attractive employer. After all, it is our colleagues in the air and on the ground who are there for our passengers every day and give our brands and companies a face."

As part of its recruitment plan, the Lufthansa Group aims to hire over 3,500 cabin crew members, 1,000 pilots, around 2,000 technicians (including 800 trainees), and approximately 900 IT experts. In addition to these roles, the group is also offering positions in other areas of its business, such as ground staff at its major hubs at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Munich International Airport (MUC). This comprehensive recruitment strategy underscores the Lufthansa Group's commitment to growth and customer service excellence.
