VietJet and Novus Aviation Capital to Establish Aircraft Financing and Leasing Firm

VietJet, a new-age carrier, and Novus Aviation Capital, a global aircraft leasing and financing company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to finance and lease 10 aircraft over the next 18 months. The investment is valued at approximately $1.3 billion at the list pricebook. The deal includes a combination of operating and finance leases. The aircraft will be a mix of single-aisle aircraft from VietJet's order book. This agreement comes shortly after VietJet took delivery of its fifth aircraft through Novus, an Airbus A321NEO, bringing its fleet to 68 aircraft with an average age of 2.8 years.

VietJet currently operates around 400 flights daily, carrying more than 80 million passengers to date. It covers 119 routes across Vietnam and international destinations such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, mainland China, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Hani Kuzbari, Managing Director at Novus Aviation Capital, expressed his excitement about the partnership. He highlighted Vietnam's potential as a market for the aviation industry, given its population of over 100 million, a growing middle class, and an increasingly deregulated aviation industry. He also emphasized Novus Aviation Capital's commitment to supporting airline customers with large underwritings, high-quality deals, and services across the value chain.

The MoU with VietJet is a significant part of Novus Aviation Capital's business strategy to accelerate company growth and invest in promising markets. It also demonstrates the wide range of products they offer their airline customers, including operating leases and high loan-to-value finance leases. VietJet is the first airline in Vietnam to operate as a new-age airline, offering flexible, cost-saving ticket fares and diversified services to meet customers' demands. It provides not only transport services but also uses the latest e-commerce technologies to offer various products and services for consumers. Vietjet is a fully-fledged member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate.

Novus Aviation Capital, on the other hand, is an independent, privately-held aircraft leasing platform, focused on investing in commercial aircraft assets. Established over 25 years ago, the Novus team operates out of its six global offices in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. The company currently co-owns and manages aircraft-related projects worth about USD 4 billion. This partnership between VietJet and Novus Aviation Capital marks a significant milestone in the aviation industry, promising to bring about positive changes and growth in the sector.
