EgyptAir Flight Lands in Nigeria Without Passengers’ Luggage'

Passengers on an EgyptAir flight from Egypt to Nigeria had their checked luggage left behind at Cairo International Airport (CAI), causing some to be stranded at the airport and potentially miss their connecting flights. The airline operates flights to three Nigerian destinations, but it does not provide domestic flights within the country. According to a Nigerian media organization called Premium Times, the luggage was not loaded onto flight MS 877, which departed from Cairo.

Upon the arrival of the EgyptAir Boeing 737-800, registered as SU-GEK, at Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) on December 12, 2023, passengers were informed by airport officials that they would need to return two days later to collect their luggage. Flightradar24 data indicates that EgyptAir will operate flight MS 877 between CAI and ABV on December 14 with an unspecified Boeing 737-800. However, the airline plans to use an Airbus A330 for the same flight the following day and on December 17.

One passenger told Nigeria's Premium Times, "I'm not living in Abuja, I'm going to join my flight to Port Harcourt."
