Ethiopian Airlines Expands Fleet with Additional 11 Airbus A350-900s

Ethiopian Airlines Group, Ethiopia’s leading airline, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to acquire 11 more Airbus A350-900s, expanding its existing fleet. This new agreement brings the total number of A350s ordered and committed by Ethiopian Airlines to 33, including four A350-1000s. The sign of the MoU was done on the third day of Dubai Airshow 2023.

Currently, Ethiopian Airlines operates 20 A350-900s, and with this new commitment, it will solidify its status as the largest A350 customer in Africa. The MoU was signed at the Dubai Airshow, with Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew and Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer, in attendance.

Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, expressed his excitement about the commitment for 11 Airbus A350-900s, highlighting the aircraft’s passenger-friendly features such as the quietest cabin in its class and ambient lighting. He emphasized the airline’s focus on customer satisfaction and its intention to expand its fleet with the latest technology aircraft. Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International praised Ethiopian Airlines for leveraging the exceptional values of the A350 for long-haul travel. He highlighted Ethiopia’s unique geographical position that provides the fastest connections between China and Latin America. He expressed delight in strengthening Ethiopian Airlines’ fleet and continuing the strong relationship they have built together.
