The Embraer E195-E2 has been certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) less than a year after the smaller E190-E2 was certified. Embraer announced that the final Type Certificate (TC) for the E195-E2 was issued by the CAAC on August 23, 2023.

Both E2 family aircraft are now approved for flight in China following the certification of the E190-E2 in November 2022 during the Zhuhai Airshow. Embraer put the development of the E175-E2 on hold in February 2022, which postponed the regional jet's entry-into-service (EIS) date until 2027.
The manufacturer cited United States (US) scope clause agreements as the reason for the delay, with the pilot unions in the country limiting the maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of regional aircraft flown by regional affiliates of major carriers. However, Arjan Meijer, the president and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, expressed excitement over the two E2 family aircraft certifications in China, which will facilitate sales in the Chinese market.
Meijer also noted that the E2, ARJ21, and C919 aircraft provide "flexible, efficient, and eco-friendly options for Chinese airlines" and "significant opportunities" for Embraer in China. The manufacturer's 20-year market outlook, published in June 2023, predicts strong growth in the Asia-Pacific market, including China, with a 4.4% annual increase in demand measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK). According to ch-aviation.com data, Embraer has delivered 18 E190-E2 and 65 E195-E2 aircraft globally, with Air Astana being the only Asian operator, currently operating five Embraer E190-E2 in its fleet. Guo Qing, the managing director and vice president of Commercial Aviation at Embraer China, expressed optimism about the opportunities in China, given the support from both the Chinese and Brazilian governments during Brazilian President Lula's State visit to China.
