Delta exercises options to purchase 12 new Airbus A220-300s

Delta Air Lines has exercised options to buy 12 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The order is worth $1.3 billion at list prices. The new aircraft will be delivered between 2027 and 2028. Delta Airlines currently operates a fleet of 57 A220-300 aircraft. The A220-300 is a single-aisle aircraft that can seat up to 160 passengers. It is the largest version of the A220 family, and it is known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort.

Delta's order is a vote of confidence in the A220-300 after many stumbles due to Pratt and Whitney engine issues. The airline is planning to use the new aircraft to replace some of its older aircraft, and to expand its network to new destinations.

"The A220-300 is a great aircraft for Delta," said Mahendra Chopra, the airline's chief operating officer. "It is fuel-efficient, comfortable, and it can fly to a variety of destinations. We are excited to add more of these aircraft to our fleet." The order is also a positive sign for the US aviation industry. The United States is a growing market for air travel, and this order will help to boost the country's economy.
