Delta Air Lines has exercised options to buy 12 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The order is worth $1.3 billion at list prices. The new aircraft will be delivered between 2027 and 2028. Delta Airlines currently operates a fleet of 57 A220-300 aircraft. The A220-300 is a single-aisle aircraft that can seat up to 160 passengers. Delta's order is a vote of confidence in the A220-300 after many stumbles due to Pratt and Whitney engine issues. The airline is planning to use the new aircraft to replace some of its older aircraft, and to expand its network to new destinations.
