The aircraft took off from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12:00 ICT and was scheduled to land at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport at 19:10 CET. However, the crew declared an emergency over Iran and diverted to Dubai International Airport. The aircraft landed safely in Dubai at 15:30 GST. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the emergency is not yet known, but it is believed that the aircraft may have experienced an engine failure. The aircraft was met by emergency services on arrival in Dubai. KLM has released a statement saying that it is "investigating the incident and will provide more information as it becomes available."
