INCIDENT | KLM Flight KL876 from Bangkok Declares Emergency and Diverts to Dubai

A KLM flight from Bangkok to Amsterdam declared an emergency on May 26, 2023, and diverted to Dubai. The flight, KL876, was operated by a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft and was carrying 280 passengers and 14 crew members.

The aircraft took off from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12:00 ICT and was scheduled to land at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport at 19:10 CET. However, the crew declared an emergency over Iran and diverted to Dubai International Airport. The aircraft landed safely in Dubai at 15:30 GST. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the emergency is not yet known, but it is believed that the aircraft may have experienced an engine failure. The aircraft was met by emergency services on arrival in Dubai. KLM has released a statement saying that it is "investigating the incident and will provide more information as it becomes available."

This is the second time in recent months that a KLM flight has declared an emergency. In March 2023, a KLM flight from Amsterdam to New York was forced to make an emergency landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, after an engine fire.
