Cargolux Boeing 747 loses part of landing gear during emergency landing

The incident took place at Luxembourg Airport during the landing of a Cargolux plane. On Sunday evening, a Boeing 747-400 cargo lost part of its main landing gear.

The Boeing 747-400 took off from Luxembourg Airport to Chicago ORD but pilots informed ATC of a malfunction.

The aircraft (reg. LX-OCV) climbed to 10,000 ft to dump fuel for about 10 minutes then returned to Luxembourg Airport for an emergency landing one hour later after it could not retract the landing gear.
