INCIDENT | Kenya Airways B737 flight KQ 606 suffers cabin pressurization failure


Kenya Airways (KQ) flight KQ 606 suffered low cabin pressure during a routine flight from Nairobi (NBO) to Mombasa (MBA). 

In a statement, Kenya Airways confirmed that the incident occurred on January 12, 2023, at around 14:40 hours, about 25 minutes after take-off.

‘Our crew immediately declared pressurization failure emergency through air traffic control and descended to a safe altitude of 10,000 feet after briefing the passengers,’ said KQ in the statement.

According to the statement, passenger oxygen masks were deployed during the aircraft’s descent for the safety of KQ’s passengers. 

The flight was operated on a Boeing 737-800, registered 5Y-KYD according to flightradar24 data. The flight departed from Nairobi at 14:15 hours and landed in Mombasa at 14:58 hours. 

The aircraft landed safely in Mombasa, with no casualties or injuries recorded.
