The region’s traders of electronics, clothes and other consumer goods will also benefit from the belly cargo capacity that will be available on the flight. Additionally, the flights offer increased capacity for direct exports of seafood and fresh produce directly to the Middle East.

While speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural event, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Managing Director, Alex Gitari noted that the city of Mombasa is internationally recognized as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Africa and therefore the introduction of the new route by KQ was key & strategic not only to the national airline but also to the airport.

“By having direct access to and from the Middle East, this new flight will greatly contribute towards the growth of passenger traffic at this airport, enabling Moi International Airport to become the premier tourist hub of the East African region,” Gitari said.

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) recently completed the rehabilitation & expansion of the airside pavements i.e the runway, taxiway and apron as well as the Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems at Mombasa, Kenya’s Moi International Airport.
