World Cup: Lufthansa unveils Fanhansa livery with diversity message

Lufthansa has unveiled a special livery with a message in support of diversity for the aircraft that will take the German national team to training ahead of the World Cup soccer tournament in Qatar.

The German flag carrier traditionally unveils a “Fanhansa” livery for major soccer tournaments, with the special livery having previously adorned a Boeing 747 “Queen of the Skies”.

For the 2022 World Cup, players, coaches and support staff will be carried aboard an Airbus A330 to their training camp in Muscat, Oman, on November 14. The flight is a regular scheduled service, namely LH 632 from Munich (MUC) to Dubai (DXB) via Muscat (MCT).

“Fanhansa” replaces the word Lufthansa on the aircraft’s fuselage special livery as before, but this time, Lufthansa has added “Diversity Wins” to the aircraft, with an illustration of people standing together.

In a press release on November 13, 2022, Lufthansa said the special livery, designed by illustrator Peter Phobia and applied to its A330 registered D-AIKQ, sends “a clear message to the world”.

“Lufthansa is a byword for openness, tolerance, diversity and bringing people together,” the airline declared. “The company enables its customers from all nations and cultures to connect, and welcomes everyone aboard, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion or nationality.
