No exact launching date or destinations were revealed yet, but the airline's CEO Rayner Teo told local media in Malaysia that operations will start with three Airbus A320-200 to provide domestic services. Teo also added that the idea of establishing MYAirline was driven by the popularity of low-cost carriers in the region's consumer market.

"But we want to keep the flight range within four hours, because that's the sweet spot when it comes to low-cost carrier operations," Teo said.

The CEO of the newly start-up also added that MYAirline has plans to expand to regional and international flights in the future.

"We believe we can easily offer cheaper flights based on cost structure," Teo, also the carrier's co-founder, told Nikkei Asia in a recent interview at its humble operation center above a shopping mall in Subang Jaya, near the capital Kuala Lumpur.

In February 2021, MYAirline Sdn Bhd submitted an application with the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) to operate as a low-cost carrier.

Teo also said that the airline will stick to the core principles of low-cost airline operations by focusing only on the use of narrow-body aircraft.

In December 2021, MAVCOM approved the issuance of Conditional Approval for an Air Service Licence to MYAirline for a period of one year until December 31, 2022.
