INCIDENT | Turkish Airlines A330 Tail Strike on Takeoff

Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 left the airport, on Aug 30th, 2022, with its tail scraping the runway. Then it went back to Istanbul.

Flight TK726 from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, Nepal, was operated by an Airbus A330-300.

After spending more than four hours circling over Northern Turkey to burn off fuel, the aircraft (TC-JOG) made a safe landing back on runway 35R at Istanbul Airport at about 00:40.

The plane was grounded after a post-flight check revealed minor damage to the underside of the tail.
