British Airways and Qatar Airways Expand Joint Business Partnership to Include 185 Destinations


British Airways and Qatar Airways have completed their expansion to form the industry’s largest joint business partnership, spanning 185 destinations across over 60 countries.  Guests of both airlines will enjoy greater choice when connecting via London and Doha.

On Monday (September 26, 2022), British Airways announced the completion of the latest phase in their joint business partnership with Qatar Airways, offering more global connectivity than any other airline industry collaboration.  With the latest expansion, the airlines have added 42 new countries to their shared network, including Italy, the Maldives, Norway, Singapore and Sweden.  In total, the joint business partnership now offers seamless connectivity via London or Doha to 185 destinations across more than 60 countries.  The latest expansion is part of British Airways and Qatar Airways’ plan to ‘Move Further Together’.  Cooperation on some routes remain subject to regulatory clearance.

In Monday’s announcement, British Airways’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sean Doyle, said,

“This is a huge milestone in our long-standing relationship with Qatar Airways, an airline that shares our passion for customer service, choice and flexibility.  From idyllic holiday hotspots such as the Maldives and Thailand, to business hubs such as Singapore and Hong Kong, we are pleased to open up the world as the travel industry continues to make steps towards its recovery.”

Also commenting on the expanded joint business partnership, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellence Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,

Additionally, customers of both airlines can earn and spend Avios, their common currency, when flying either carrier.  Customers can also seamlessly link their British Airways Executive Club and Qatar Airways Privilege Club accounts to transfer Avios between the two, or combine balances to claim rewards faster.  The collaboration also allows reciprocal access to exclusive lounges.
