Bonza unveils first-ever 'wear it your way' uniform for cabin crew and staff

Australia’s newest low-cost airline Bonza has unveiled its first uniform, throwing out traditional airline styles with what the carrier calls a ‘wear it your way’ range.

Featuring custom white sneakers and comfortable cotton t-shirts, the uniform design is an industry first for any Australian airline.

The airline said that it wants to allow staff to let their individual personalities shine with various ‘mix and match’ options, adding that there will be no grooming guides for crew, who will be allowed to style and wear uniforms depending on their mood.

“We won't dictate what lipstick to wear - or whether you have to wear lipstick at all. We won't ask crew to cover up their tattoos and just because you're female, that doesn't mean you have to wear a skirt. If you're non-binary, pregnant, work in the office or onboard, we have options for you. Bonza is for the many not the few,  and that's what you’ll see with our first-ever uniforms,” Carly Povey, chief commercial officer at Bonza told press in an emailed statement.

And in true unconventional fashion, Bonza has decided to forego pilot hats, saying that savings from creating the hats can go to its customers.

“My goal was for the uniforms to reflect the excitement and optimism that Bonza brings to Aussie travelers. They’re ditching the rule book in every way and the uniforms are no exception,” Total Image group head designer and CEO, Pamela Jabbour said about her designs.

“Instead of pantyhose, polyester shirts, black high heels and traditional embroidery - we have created a uniform that reflects current trends and that legends will wear with pride,” Jabour further added.

The airline said that it is currently working on designing crew sunglasses, which will be made of recycled materials.
