Saudi Airlines has witnessed a strong start for 2022, with an increase to 75% in Q1 capacity compared to 2021. The Saudi Arabia flag carrier provided services to more than five million passengers in the first three months of the year as demand for air travelling surge.
In the first quarter of 2022, Saudi Airlines operated more than 40,000 flights or 44% increase from last year.
The airlines fleet of 144 aircraft have logged 101,600 hours in total for the first three months of the year, represents an increase of 77% from last year.
The airline has said that it is prepared to add extra flights and seats to routes wherever demand dictates.
Saudi Arabia's ambitious 'Vision 2030' plans have the country hoping to attract 100 million yearly tourists by the end of this decade. As expected, the country's national carrier Saudia will play a huge role.
Saudia has recently announced several new destinations as it expands its international network. The carrier has added Barcelona, Malaga, Marrakech, Moscow, Seoul, Entebbe, Amsterdam, Chicago and Mykonos to its network.
Flights to Barcelona and Malaga will launch on June 30th, while its Marrakech service will begin on May 30th.
The carrier also launched its first direct service to Bangkok in more than two decades with its thrice-weekly Jeddah-Riyadh-Bangkok flights.
