Raya Airways Refutes Reports of Acquisition By AirAsia

Last weekend, several local and international media outlets, reported that Malaysia's budget carrier AirAsia Group is in in early acquisition discussions for air cargo carrier Raya Airways. 

Raya Airways described this reports as "incorrect and misleading". In a statement issued by Raya Airways, in which a copy was sent to Aero News Journal, declining any talks by the company or any of its subsidiaries with AirAsia Group Berhad or any other parties for the acquisition of the Company or any part of its businesses.

In the statement, the company has assured its stakeholders that the financial and operational position is growing in strength. The company also confirmed its commitments to continue and further strengthen its operations and opportunities to take the company to its next stage of growth.

Raya Airways is operating a fleet of three Boeing 767-200F and one Boeing 737-400F. The company network covers air cargo operations to China, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong as well as prime commercial centres in East Malaysia, namely Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Labuan.
