Russia may consider banning Western airlines from flying over its territory if sanctions are imposed against "Aeroflot"

The first deputy chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council, Vladimir Jabarov, said today, Thursday, that Russia may consider the issue of banning Western airlines from flying over its territory in the event of imposing sanctions against the Russian company "Aeroflot".

Bloomberg Agency had announced earlier that the European Union authorities were considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Russian company "Aeroflot" as part of a new package of sanctions against Belarus related to the migrant crisis at the Polish-Belarus border.

"Aeroflot has nothing to do with this. They are trying to "bite" Russia at any cost," Jabarov told Sputnik.

The Russian parliamentarian stressed that "if sanctions are imposed against the company "Aeroflot", Russia may discuss the issue of banning Western airlines from flying over the country's territory."
