Australian helicopter crashes during Exercise Talisman Sabre


A helicopter NH-90 from the Australian Army crashed into the sea during a training exercise called Talisman Sabre. It happened on July 28, 2023, at night, near Lindeman Island in the State of Queensland. Unfortunately, the four crew members on board are missing and have not been found.

The helicopter was part of the 6th Aviation Regiment, based in New South Wales, Australia, and was taking part in a training exercise with other countries like France, the United States, Germany, Canada, Japan, and South Korea.

After the crash, the search and rescue teams immediately started looking for the missing crew members. Although they found some parts of the helicopter, they have not found the crew members yet.

This is not the first time an accident has happened with this type of helicopter. In March 2023, another MRH-90 helicopter was damaged during a counter-terrorism exercise. However, the crew was rescued, and the helicopter fleet was grounded for a month while the authorities investigated what happened.
