KLM flight to Johannesburg turned around South of France. A KLM Boeing 777-200ER performing flight #KL591 from Amsterdam to Johannesburg declared an emergency 1h30 into the flight.
The 16-year aircraft (reg. PH-BQO) took off at 11.00 local time then landed back at 14.35 on runway 18R.
Crew squawked 7700 and declared an emergency because of a kitchen’s fire at the rear of the plane (as reported by AIRLIVE), passengers were moved to the front. The cabin crew quickly extinguished the fire.
The aircraft was met by emergency services at Amsterdam Schiphol.
