Air India in talks with Airbus and Boeing to buy up to 300 narrowbody jets

Air India is in discussions with Airbus and Boeing for the potential purchase of up to 300 narrowbody jets, industry sources said.

Airbus and Boeing declined comment on the negotiations, earlier reported by Bloomberg. Air India did not respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this year, after participating in the government's disinvestment exercise of Air India, the Tatas took control of the national airline, along with its subsidiary Air India Express, and Air India's stake in joint venture ground handling company Air India

Air India operates a fleet 128 aircraft, a mixture of Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The fleet contains 49 of all Boeing widebody aircraft, and 79 aircraft of Airbus A320 family narrowbody. While Air India Express operates a fleet of 25 Boeing 737-800.
