India’s Jet Airways receives AOC ahead of relaunch

Jet Airways has received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on May 20, 2022, allowing it to move towards a relaunch later this year.

“We have our AOC, and now we focus on building up the rest of our team as we prepare to resume operations,” Jet Airways announced in social media posts.

The airline received its AOC after carrying out a series of test and proving flights.

The carrier said it was especially keen to encourage former Jet Airways to apply for roles as it prepares to relaunch operations.

Jet Airways ceased operations in April 2019 following bankruptcy. Under new owners, the Jalan Kalrock Consortium, it plans to restart operations in the third quarter of 2022 (July-September).

New chief executive Sanjiv Kapoor commented on Twitter that a “team of remarkables pulled off something few thought possible: revive an airline that had not operated for an extended period of time (3 years!)”.
