INCIDENT | FAA to investigate a new close-call at Minnesota Airport

An American Airlines flight narrowly avoided a collision with a Delta Air Lines flight at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Wednesday evening. The American Airlines Boeing 737 was on approach to land when the air traffic controller cleared the Delta Air Lines Airbus A220 to take off.

The two planes came within 200 feet vertically and 850 feet horizontally of each other. The American Airlines pilot was able to abort the landing and go around, avoiding a collision. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.

This is the latest in a series of close calls at major airports. In recent months, there have been several incidents where planes have come within close proximity of each other on the runway. The FAA has warned airlines to be more vigilant and to take steps to prevent accidents.
