Omicron postpones the launch of direct flights from Morocco to Israel

Royal Air Maroc (the flag carrier of Morocco) announced the postponement of the launch of the direct flights to Israel, which was scheduled to take place on December 12.

According to the newspaper "Yediot Aharonot", the Moroccan decision came due to the outbreak of the new strain of the Corona virus known as "Omicron".

Morocco announced the complete closure of the country's airspace until December 14, for fear of the new variant entering its territory.

So far, Israel, which also closed its airspace, has detected two confirmed cases of "Omicron", in addition to 34 suspected cases of being infected with the new mutant.

Late last year, Morocco announced the resumption of relations with Israel, which were suspended in 2000 due to the second Palestinian intifada.

And last Friday, the World Health Organization said that the discovery of the new mutant of "Covid-19" for the first time in South Africa is worrisome, and it called it "Omicron".

This mutated virus can modify itself up to 30 times, which means that it can spread quickly, according to scientific reports on the virus.
